There is a crack about 10mm from the blade's edge. The ferrule was loose, so I tightened it by tapping it with a large hammer, but it didn't break. I think it will eventually break with use, but there's still 40mm remaining. I can't read the inscription, but the ferrule is a high-quality, hand-forged one.
