This is a jug-type vase from the VEB Gräfenroda pottery, a state-owned enterprise in East Germany. It was made in the 1970s. It has a muted, deep yellowish-green color, like matcha or deep young grass, and the inside is a skin-tone color. Gräfenroda's history began in Thuringia in 1874. Philipp Griebel founded the company, and the family tradition was passed down for four generations. Gräfenroda is also the name of the town. Before World War II, there were many workshops in this town, but in the 1940s, only Gräfenroda, run by Mr. Griebel's son, and a few other workshops remained. Due to the division of East and West Germany, the workshop was nationalized in 1972 and became VEB Gräfenroda-Keramik. The fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 marked a turning point, and the workshop was able to return to family management.
