Long Cornet: Holton Collegiate (Made in USA) This is a Holton Collegiate model, quite old (likely manufactured in the 1960s-1970s). However, the intonation is relatively accurate, and it's easy to play fast phrases. A long cornet mouthpiece is recommended, but you can also use a short mouthpiece like a Denis Wick by pulling the tuning slide out further. Despite the instrument's weight, it feels light to play. It has a cohesive, soft tone. I purchased it in November 2021 and had it repaired immediately, improving the valve action. There are signs of lacquer and paint touch-ups, and it shows considerable wear, but there are no issues affecting playability. The valves and slides function without problems.
