My father bought this as a souvenir from Canada about 30 years ago. I remember that it was said to be hand-knitted by indigenous people at the time, and something like straw was woven into it. It has been stored in the closet, having been used very little. There are no tags, so the details are unknown, but it is definitely wool. It's knitted with thick wool and is more sturdy than it looks.
