This is a finished kimono of Honba Yuki-Tsumugi, designated as an Important Intangible Cultural Property. Yuki-Tsumugi is a traditional textile from Ibaraki Prefecture, counted among the three major tsumugi fabrics in Japan. The certification seal of Honba Yuki-Tsumugi has a mark commonly known as the "Yui" mark printed on the center seal. The hand-woven Honba Yuki-Tsumugi was designated as a National Important Intangible Cultural Property in 1956, and due to the cultural value of its techniques, it was registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2010. The soft, warm, and surprisingly light silk wadding fabric is a characteristic of Honba Yuki-Tsumugi. This piece features a Shokko pattern woven with a 100-mountain equivalent of kikko-gasuri (tortoiseshell pattern). This is a Yuki-Tsumugi from the long-established Okujun Co., Ltd. A certification seal from the Honba Yuki-Tsumugi Wholesale Cooperative and Important Intangible Cultural Property designation is included.
