Hitotsumi (Infant's Kimono) for Hatsumiya (First Shrine Visit) Celebratory Kimono, Oshukuizome (First Meal Ceremony), First Seasonal Festival, Shichi-Go-San (Seven-Five-Three Festival), New Year's, Hakama (Formal Trousers) Denchi Set (Vest) - Black and Cream Colors ◆ This was custom-made and worn only once for the Hatsumiya ceremony. The lining is warm and breathable, I believe it was merin. It has been stored wrapped in tatou-gami (paper wrapping) and carefully maintained with occasional airing. There were no visible stains or damage on the hitotsumi kimono or the denchi (vest) itself. Please check the images as the kimono's ties appear slightly brownish, and consider this if you are not concerned. The basting threads are still attached. ✴︎ "Hitotsumi" refers to a kimono for infants aged 0-2 years old, typically worn as a celebratory garment for the Hatsumiya ceremony. When the baby is young, it is worn with the sleeves and hem extended to cover the hands and feet. The hitotsumi worn for Hatsumiya can be altered with shoulder tucks and worn as a "kimono" for the Shichi-Go-San ceremony at age 3. ◆ Size: Although it varies depending on the child, the size is a guide for 90-100 (around 2-3 years old). ✴︎ The "tie decorations" at the base of the ties are adorned with the auspicious "asanoha" (hemp leaf) pattern, which symbolizes the healthy growth of children and warding off evil spirits.
