This is a men-gane (face protector milk leather) made of woven fabric (for bottom attachment). The fabric uses Bushu Shoai-zome (indigo dyeing). The first image is an example and differs from the actual product. Length: 22cm It is sewn at the back so that the seams are not visible when attached, and a hole is made in the core to minimize distortion due to the thickness of the string. Because it has a core, I think it is a relatively sturdy construction. The holes for the string may fray due to the nature of the fabric, but if you are careful not to damage the fabric when attaching it, it is unlikely to fray or tear further.
