Due to a lack of time, I am creating and listing these little by little so I can also build my own hive. I have been involved with Japanese honey bees for 22 years. Product Details Dimensions of one frame: 260 x 260 mm, 30 mm thick boards. Easy to disassemble by removing the screws. The wood is cedar. The boards are thick and have been air-dried in the shade for 5 years, making this hive highly insulating. This is a hive that is favored by bees, who tend to prefer older hives, and is different from other hives. The bottom tier has a door and a removable bottom board for easy cleaning. While some hives use wire for comb support, I use bamboo or wooden rods. I have been taught by experienced beekeepers that bees tend to avoid hives with wire comb support when selecting a home. Please be sure to apply beeswax thoroughly before use. This hive has been developed through the guidance of experienced beekeepers and my own experience. Production will cease once wood stock runs out. New stock will be priced higher due to rising lumber costs. We appreciate your understanding. Wood stock is running low. I was very happy to receive many reports of bees moving in last year. I make these as a hobby because I enjoy it, so the craftsmanship is not professional. The price is set so that most of the proceeds will be used for shipping, fees, and materials (especially the thick boards, which are expensive, and lumber prices are also increasing). Therefore, discounts are difficult. I have 51 of these same hives myself, and as of Reiwa 7 (2025), 42 of them have natural Japanese honey bees residing in them. While the description may be brief and some parts may be unclear, I will include instructions on how to set up the hive and preferred locations for bees, based on my experience and what I have learned from experienced beekeepers.
