This is a salt cellar by Louis C. Tiffany (Tiffany Studios). Tiffany's flagship store is located at the corner of 57th Street and Fifth Avenue in New York. Louis Comfort Tiffany, the founder's son, is famous as an artist of stained glass, furnishings, and various glass crafts. This item is a small piece, a salt cellar (salt dish) made by Tiffany Studios in the 1890s-1920s. At the time, it was used as a bonbonniere (candy dish) and was probably a versatile small dish, not just for salt. This is a genuine item, with its authenticity verified by examining its shape, color, texture, and signature. It is generally called Favrile Glass, and the metallic-like surface produced by a special manufacturing method has a golden, yellow-green, pink, and purple iridescence. The beautiful iridescent colors change depending on the viewing angle and the way the light hits it. The salt cellars often seen have a wavy top like a shell's frills, and this is a typical example. The bottom also has a stunning metallic luster. The small and elegant initials "L.C.T." (Louis Comfort Tiffany) are inscribed. There are no cracks, chips, or flaws. There are no noticeable scratches, which is remarkable considering it has been over 100 years since it was made. When you flick it with your finger, it makes a thin, high, clear sound. The texture is smooth and silky.
