I tried putting jewelry in it a few times just to test it out. After that, I put it back in the box and stored it. There are no noticeable scratches, and the hardware is also shiny. I think there might be some minor scratches, but they are not noticeable to the naked eye. It's the type that plays a music box when opened. It plays Canon. It can hold 3 rings or earrings (depending on the design). It had been stored for a while, so there is a slight chemical smell. I've been airing it out by opening the lid, but I'm not sure if it will completely disappear. Please refrain from purchasing if you are sensitive to smells.
