He was an artist who was active in Kyoto during the mid-Edo period. His real name was Jokin, and his azana (courtesy name) was Keiwa. It is said that he initially used the art name Shunkyo, but no examples of its use have been found. He also used the art names Tobei-an, Beito-o, Shin-enkan, and Kinkai Koji. He is known as a "painter of eccentric ideas," skillfully blending realism and imagination, and is often compared to Soga Shohaku and Nagasawa Rosetsu. ≪Condition of the work≫ The main paper is a silk craft product.
