This is a Showa S. Yairi YD-305. It was a high-end model with a list price of 100,000 yen at the time. I love the old S. Yairi guitars and have collected many, including this model. I am selling them to help my family with their illness. As you can see from my past listings, I have only kept the ones that I felt were "hits" from various eras. I cannot guarantee anything as it depends on individual preferences, but I don't think you'll find a "bad" guitar here. During the time I was obsessed with the 305, I had about 5 of them at one point (from '72 to '81). This is the last one I kept after gradually selling off the others. The following is a long description, please read it. Based on the serial number, it appears to be from 1974. Until early 1975, it had a thin V-shape neck. Around 1975, the neck became thicker, and the overall construction became more robust. This is an early-spec guitar, before the neck shape and overall construction changed. It's a slightly irregular model, and even compared to others from the same period, the neck is uniformly thin up to around the 11th fret. You can feel the difference when you hold it, and it's easy to play up to the high frets. *See the last image for a comparison of the neck grips. Thanks to this guitar, I ended up collecting a lot of 305s. It seems there was a significant individual variation, and this 305 doesn't have the typical stiffness of Japanese-made guitars. Although it's not a selling point, it has a sound very similar to the D-35 I owned at the time. I sold the 35, keeping only the 28, so I used this guitar when I wanted the sound of the 35. The neck is almost straight, and the string height is about 2.4mm at the 12th fret on the 6th string and about 1.8mm on the 1st string. The bridge plate has been reinforced in the past, so it has a good tension and is in good playing condition. The sound is clear and has a good resonance. Overall, there are some dents, weather checking, and scratches, as it's a guitar from a vintage era. However, there are no cracks, and the overall condition is quite good. There is a scratch in the 12th photo, but it's a scratch I made by accident and is not a crack. The hard case has some age-related wear on the surface, but it's sturdy and I think it's a relatively expensive one. It's not broken and is usable, but it's not in perfect condition. Please consider it as a bonus for transportation.
