This is an item worn by the head clerk, clerks, and apprentices during the founding festival sale of a kimono shop about 120 years ago, during the Meiji and Taisho eras. There is some fading, but considering its age, the fiber condition is still firm, and it has a beautiful appearance and atmosphere. Despite the蔵 (kura - storehouse) collapsing in the recent earthquake and disaster, it was found undamaged in a paulownia chest. This is a rare item with a long size and lettering/logo design that evokes the atmosphere of that era. For those interested in retro happi coats! I found 5 other designs, but they sold out quickly, and only 2 remain. The indigo color of the material is also wonderful.
