Thank you for viewing. This is a lidded object I purchased at an antique market about 20 years ago. I was captivated by the charming design and brought it home. The shop owner said it dates from the late Edo period to the Meiji and Taisho eras, a rather broad estimate. It's a lidded object packed with adorable landscape motifs. Everything about it is round and truly charming. It's rare to find one this cute. The inside depicts the sea, rocky mountains, houses, and distant mountains. On the body of the bowl, there's a figure holding a staff. Perhaps a hermit? The varying shades and line thicknesses of the underglaze blue are used skillfully, making it a pleasure to look at. There are some scratches in places. There are no cracks or chips. Other than that, it appears to have kiln marks. It's suitable for both practical use and display. Size: Height: 7.5 cm Width: 11 cm
