Early 1980s. While visiting the former Yugoslavia and the Turkish region, I purchased three items at a high-end shop in a long-established Istanbul hotel. This kilim has been displayed only two or three times and has been stored away since then. I became interested in kilims and, after looking at specialized books, realized its value and have treasured it. It is woven so beautifully and strongly that it's impossible to tell the front from the back. Made of hand-spun wool, it's easy to see how it will last for generations. A tribal design rug, it features vibrant colors dyed in many hues and intricate, elaborate geometric patterns. There are also photos of another large, unused rug and specialized books, but they are sold separately. I've included photos of the reverse side to show its condition, including a folded-over section. I am also listing the large rug, which is also shown in the photos.
