Monyai Seki is the oldest weaving house in Japan. The Iseki family has a long history, and as a "Goryo Orimono-shi" (Imperial Weaving Craftsman), they have woven exquisite pieces that have adorned the imperial court culture, including garments for the nobility, shoguns, and daimyo. This obi is woven with the finest materials and the highest techniques, making it light and supple. This obi features the "Goryo Irotorikasumi Mon" pattern, which has been passed down through Monyai Seki. It is a six-panel obi designed to be paired with montsuki iromuji (mon-embroidered solid-colored kimono) and tsukesage kimono. Some may say it's extravagant to pair such an expensive obi with a montsuki iromuji kimono or a tsukesage kimono. However, in Kyoto, it is said that you should spend more on the obi than the kimono itself.
