As it is an antique item, the wrapping cloth and box show some age-related deterioration. Due to the gold-wrapped old ink, the paint is prone to peeling. It is said that solid ink is better to use after it has been aged for many years rather than immediately after manufacture, as it makes writing smoother and allows for richer expression due to changes in the bleeding and color of the ink.
