Royal Doulton, a leading British porcelain manufacturer founded in 1815. This is a discontinued Royal Doulton Arcadia (H4802). Arcadia means an ideal land in the hinterlands of ancient Greece, depicting a pastoral scene of quiet and simple living. Delicate flowers are gently depicted on the wavy, spiral surface. It was a long-selling item produced from 1938, and from the backstamp, it was produced between 1959 and 2000 before being discontinued. This is a set of 6 cake plates (diameter 16.7 cm) with a brown backstamp. All were purchased while living in the UK between the late 1960s and early 1970s. They are a convenient size. They were used only occasionally for guests, so they have been used very infrequently. After returning to Japan, they were stored in a cupboard and are in very beautiful condition.
