Maintenance was performed with considerable time and expense. This is a KRUSPE (made by G.H. Huller) bassoon, which was on par with Adler and Sonora of Germany at the time. The ones imported by Yamaha were Kruspe, made in the same factory, but those imported by Global were sold under the Huller brand. This is a high-grade bassoon made of East German maple. Recently, we have also seen inexpensive instruments made in China, but the feel of playing them is still German-made, and I feel they are solid.
