This instrument is carved from wood and features a glass bead inside, symbolizing the "soul" to produce a good sound. Its parts are likened to the human body. It is a traditional instrument in Ainu culture, played using the open string method, which consists of five tones produced by plucking the strings with the fingers. It has shamisen strings. From right to left, the strings are 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. Please tune it to D, G, D, A, and E, as tuned by Ume Nishihira. Strings 1 and 3 are one octave higher than the others.
