The "Okazome" technique involves painting with cobalt-based pigments on the white porcelain after the initial firing, and then firing it again in a kiln at the world's highest temperature of approximately 1460 degrees Celsius. This causes the pigments to sink into the glaze, creating a unique, deep cobalt blue expression. This technique is only possible because of Okura Touen's world-renowned "white" porcelain.
