This is a wooden carving of an Ainu person purchased in Hokkaido over 60 years ago. It appears to be a couple. On the bottom of the figure thought to be the woman, it is inscribed "Lake Akan 1961," although it may be difficult to see in the photo. The size of each figure is approximately 15cm in height and 7cm in width. Originally a dark brown color, there are no noticeable stains or scratches from aging, but it feels like the figures have become generally lighter in color since they were purchased.
