This is a knotted mala featuring a Gauri Shankar 12-mukhi bead at the top (knots are tied between each bead). Gauri Shankar is formed from two conjoined beads, so it usually has 10 mukhis. A 12-mukhi is a rare bead. The knots are tied with three threads: red, white, and black. Red, white, and black represent the three major Hindu gods: Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva. In Bali, you often see people wearing bracelets made of these three colored threads, similar to friendship bracelets. These threads are called Tri Datu and are a Hindu amulet. Silver 925 beads are used above and below the Gauri Shankar. The size is designed to be easy to match with everyday clothing.
