Compatible with gas stoves and induction cooktops. There is no outer box, and everything in the photos is included. I washed it with water, intending to use it, but ended up storing it unused. Of course, it has never been heated or had food placed inside, but it is not brand new. If you have any concerns, please comment or feel free to pass. ^_^
