These commemorative cups are something I've been collecting bit by bit over the past 20 years from antique fairs and old art markets. I've enjoyed them, but I think it's about time I passed them on to someone else. There aren't that many collectors of commemorative cups, and it's nice that you can collect rare items at an affordable price. This is a sake cup with a pine sprout design. It's an unusual painting. Pine trees stay green all year round, so they are a symbol of longevity. New sprouts are on the tips of the branches, so it's also good for celebrating the New Year.
