In 1958 (Showa 33), he made his first entry and received his first award at the 2nd Iwate Casting Craft Exhibition. Since then, he has received over 30 awards. In 2002 (Heisei 14), he was recognized for his outstanding skills and achievements by the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare and was awarded the title of "Contemporary Master Craftsman." Currently, there are no other artists recognized as Contemporary Master Craftsmen among the iron kettle and hot water pot artists of Nambu Tekki.
