Although it's a blue ink, the writing feel is similar to Konparu (deer-glue blue ink), using deer-glue and pine soot. It's an ink made only from soot, glue, and fragrance, without any pigments or dyes other than soot. Mizuhanada is a traditional Japanese color, a shade of blue. It was used to describe the color of water in the Heian period, but in modern times, it's a slightly greenish, pale, bright color. I've included photo 8 for reference, and it really is a beautiful water color. This ink is made with an incredibly luxurious process. It's an excellent ink for ink wash painting, kana (Japanese syllabary) thick ink smudging, and kanji (Chinese characters) using pale ink bleeding. Deer-glue ink. It's very expensive. It's the highest quality glue, but there's almost no way to make Japanese glue from deer hide. Deer were found throughout Japan and were eaten before the war (apparently delicious). However, the population drastically decreased, and hunting has been prohibited since the war. Therefore, it has become difficult to make Japanese glue from deer hide. Currently, natural predators have decreased, and conversely, the deer population has increased too much, and culling can't keep up. However, just as deer meat is rarely seen, there are no people processing and transporting deer hide, and no one making Japanese glue from deer hide. Therefore, it's not made. Deer-glue. It's the highest quality in Japanese glue, with low strength. The ink color is strongly blue just by looking at it, and it has a strong transparency characteristic of pine soot. With ordinary blue ink, this level of color and transparency is not achieved. It feels like it's a well-made ink. It's not the type of ink that has a light writing feel, and the ink feels a little young. Even so, this ink color. I think it will get even better with age. If you use blue-toned ink, I can highly recommend it. The quantity is limited.
