The title "Shimotsuki" (霜降月) is another name for "Shimotsuki," the 11th month of the old lunar calendar. This corresponds to around December in the current calendar, and the name comes from the time when frost falls. Two waterfowl are painted in overglaze enamel and gold on the teabowl, depicting them swimming leisurely. The Eiraku mark is stamped on the side of the foot. The accompanying box has "Ninsei-utsushi Chawan" (仁清写茶碗) on the lid and "Jūni no Uchi Shimotsuki Zengo-rō Zō" (十二ノ内霜降月 善五郎造) on the reverse. This is one of the teabowls that remain from a set of twelve, one for each month. The string is the original string from the Eiraku family and is untouched (approximately 100 years old), so there is some aging. No scratches or repairs. Comes with a box. Name: Yu (悠), Art Name: Myozen. After Tokuzen's death, she entrusted production to her nephew, Jizaburo Yamamoto (later the 15th generation Shōzen), and continued the family business under the name of the 14th generation Eiraku. She stamped her works with the "Tokuzen" mark, and on the box inscription, she used "Zengoro" and stamped the red seal of "Yu" (悠). She supported the Eiraku family with her own hands for 19 years and educated the 16th generation Zengoro. In Taisho 3, she received a calligraphy scroll of "Myozen" from Takamine Mitsui.
