Sake Cup, Made by Taizan, Bizen Ware, Comes in a Paulownia Wood Box Size: Diameter approx. 5.7cm, Height approx. 5.5cm This is a Bizen-yaki sake cup. In the first photo: The large "botamochi" (rice cake pattern) spreading across the center of the cup. In the second photo: The "sangiri" (burnt wood effect) covering the entire surface. In the third and fourth photos: The beautiful kiln transformation that separates the "botamochi" and "sangiri" patterns. No matter which side of the cup you look at, the power of Bizen clay and fire seems to be conveyed. The inside of the cup and the foot also clearly show the wheel marks.
