This is a commemorative medal awarded to veterans of the Sino-Japanese War (131 years ago). The metal parts were manufactured using the base metal from cannons captured during the campaign. The medal is 1.1 sun (Japanese unit of length) in height and 1 sun in width, in a treasure-shaped design, made of copper. The ribbon is 1.2 sun wide. The clasp on the box is damaged.
