This is a small koto. It measures 166cm from the ryuto (dragon head) to the ryubi (dragon tail). The standard size is about 183cm. I don't know if this size is specific to a particular school of koto playing. Generally, with musical instruments, a smaller or shorter instrument will produce a higher pitch. It has a "nami-kou" (normal grade soundboard) and "sudare-bori" (bamboo blind carving). The sudare-bori is a thick carving. The edging, corner wrapping, etc. are well-finished, and the strings are new. There are almost no marks from the koto bridges having fallen over. There are no cracks on the iso (soundboard) or the ura-kou (backboard). The tongue (part of the soundboard) has beautiful gold makie (lacquer) artwork. For those who want them, I will include a set of koto bridges, cat-foot stands, a music stand, a copy of a beginner's manual, and a tuner. It looks good and won't look out of place even if you take it to a concert. Shipping is free.
