This is a color-painted Futaoki (lid rest) depicting autumn leaves, essential for an autumn tea ceremony. The Tomobiraki (brocade cloth) is stamped with the "Jussui Goseki" seal, a hallmark of Makuzu-yaki ware. ※The Jussui Goseki seal – Used by the Kosai family after the first generation as a playful seal on cloth and boxes up to the present day. The phrase "Jussui Goseki" is derived from a line in the Chinese poem "Xiti Wang Zai Huashanshui Tu Ge" by Du Fu Zimei: "Ten days to paint one water, five days to paint one stone" (十日畫一水 五日畫一石). The lid of the Tomobako (original box) is inscribed with "Fukiyose Futaoki" (Fukiyose Lid Rest), and the side of the box is stamped with the Makuzu seal as "Kosai." No scratches or repairs. The condition is very good. Comes with Tomobako (original box) and Tomobiraki (brocade cloth) with Jussui Goseki seal.
