Extremely rare early 1970s Sunbro SG. Likely from around 1972-73, it remains in remarkably good condition. The color has aged beautifully into a unique cherry color, giving it a powerful and aged aesthetic that looks great. This model was manufactured by Fujigen and exported to the UK. It's a brand that few people in Japan are even aware of, let alone own. It was sold at Summerfield Brothers in Gateshead, England, in the 70s. The brand name "Sunbro" is derived from the initials of Summerfield Brothers. Summerfield Brothers' instruments were supplied by Fujigen and were a UK distributor for Ibanez and Hoshino brands. Originally, there was no logo on the headstock. The body shape is like an SG and a Mosrite combined. There are some minor paint chips, but they add to its character. The fingerboard is rosewood, and the neck and body are mahogany. The neck and frets have been adjusted by a repair specialist. According to the repair person, the pickups may be from a Greco of the time. They appear to be original. It sounds great for both clean and crunch tones. It also has its original unique tremolo arm. Furthermore, it seems high-quality materials were used, suggesting it was a high-grade model at the time. The strap pin that was originally on the neck interfered with the hand when playing high frets, so it has been relocated to the neck plate area by a shop.
