This is a logo-printed tailpiece (lacquered) from the 1960s, originally attached to a contrabass made by the domestic brand Kiso Nihon Gengakki (Nichigen) in Japan. It's extremely rare to find the Kiso Nihon Gengakki (Nichigen) printed logo still intact, and even the shop manager of a stringed instrument specialty store said it was the first time they'd seen one in person. I believe this is a very rare and valuable vintage item. The original mounting hardware (wire?) from that time is also included. The tailpiece is black, but the material is not ebony; it's a black-lacquered wood of unknown type. While there are some scratches and wear, it's in good condition and doesn't look like it's over 60 years old. Because it's in good condition, it can be used, but it would also be enjoyable as a vintage interior decoration. Please understand that this is an old vintage item.
