This is an old wooden mold for Japanese sweets (wagashi). It seems to have been used by a wagashi shop acquaintance. It features the Rising Sun flag and the Japanese flag with the characters "忠魂" (Chūkon - loyal soul). It was likely made and used during wartime. There are small scratches, dirt, and chips. Fine dust and debris have gotten into the grooves. Although it is a wooden mold for wagashi, it was kept in storage and the condition is not very good, so I recommend not using it for food.
