This is similar to Leica's SBOOI. Since the black SBOOI is hard to come by, I was using this after seeing Keita Haginiwa use it with his M9. (I don't think he uses it anymore.) You can use both eyes open with a Leica M3, but it can't compare to the bright 1:1 viewfinder. It will bring a completely new shooting experience to snapshots and other shooting styles.
