This is a gold thread obi from the early Showa era. It seems my great-grandmother wore it when she got married. It appears it was divided among the sisters, so it's a bit shorter. It seems they were considering replacing the lining, and the lining is detached. If you have the lining replaced, I think it can be used as a regular obi. Removing the paper backing would make it easy to repurpose.
