This is a beautiful obi with a pomegranate pattern that I finally purchased at an antique market in Tokyo some time ago. It was a little dirty, so I had it professionally cleaned and restored, and have been storing it since it came back. I was drawn to the bold, painterly composition of the pomegranates and the delicate Japanese embroidery, but my tastes have changed, and I would love for someone to make good use of it, so I am offering it for sale. It is approximately 384cm long. The pomegranate pattern is arranged in about four places. The colors are closest to images 1 and 2, with a beautiful light blue gradient on a white background. The color of the pomegranates is a bit brighter in person. 1. The part of the otaiko pattern shown in the first image is the part that can somehow be made into an otaiko. It might be tied with a pull-through method. 2. In the part of the image uploaded, there is a 1cm wide line of woven fabric like a ro (silk gauze). However, it is not see-through. It is a solid, single-layer obi. 3. The cleaning cost 10,000 yen. The craftsman worked hard to clean it, and it became very beautiful. The last image shows a slight stain on the back, but it does not particularly affect the surface. You can use it as is. 4. Because it is a slightly stiff material, it is not suitable for clothing, but it feels like it would be a perfect material for bags, etc. The obi cost about 25,000 yen, and the cleaning cost 10,000 yen. As it is a wonderful item that is rarely seen, I would be happy if someone would use it. I think it would also be lovely to use it as a rug on top of an old chest of drawers, or to hang it on the wall and enjoy it as interior decoration.
