This is a Bizen-yaki ear-handled flower vase by Masamine Kakimi, a holder of Okayama Prefecture's Important Intangible Cultural Property. Mr. Kakimi entered Okayama Technical High School (formerly Okayama Prefectural Technical High School) in 1936. He then studied under Touyou Kaneshige, learning all aspects of pottery. After Touyou's death, he studied under Toushu Yamamoto. He became a regular member of the Japan Kogei Association in 1994 and was designated a holder of Okayama Prefecture's Important Intangible Cultural Property in 1980. He has received numerous awards at various exhibitions. In 2010, he changed his name from Masamine to Juhou. This work is a very valuable and magnificent piece that was placed near the kiln's stoking opening, resulting in a kiln transformation due to the ash from the firewood. The size is 11 cm in diameter at the mouth, 12 cm in diameter at the base, and 23 cm in height. It comes in a wooden box. It will be carefully packed and shipped.
