It works well with clean guitars, like solo guitar for Christmas songs. Also, it seems to suit the sound of hollow-body guitars like Chet Atkins. I think it would also fit Ventures or surf sounds. That's just my personal impression. However, it is true bypass. You can select the tone with the SPRING.PLATE.HALL switch.
