I have unpicked a Showa-retro boy's kimono. It was a thick, padded kimono. I washed it because it was stained, but the stains from many years didn't come out completely. However, it has a wonderful antique feel and pattern, so if you use parts of it for cutting or applying to *ikkambari* (a type of papercraft), you might be able to create retro-style artwork. It's full of auspicious patterns and treasures, including *karako* (Chinese-style children), treasure ships, magic mallets, scrolls, cloisonné, war fans, cranes, pine trees, and weights.
