Born in 1925 in Takeo City, Saga Prefecture, into a family of kiln owners. Graduated from the Ceramics Department of Saga Prefectural Arita Technical High School in 1942. Studied under Shōji Hamada from 1950. Received the highest award at the Saga Prefecture Exhibition in 1960. Selected for the 37th Kokuten (National Exhibition) in 1963.
