Higashi-Omi Town, Fukui Prefecture Akechi Shrine The former residence of Akechi Mitsuhide before he served Nobunaga, when he was taking refuge with the Asakura clan. It is said to be the birthplace of Tama, later Hosokawa Gracia. During Nobunaga's campaign to suppress the Ikkō-ikki, the village was protected by a letter of assurance issued by Mitsuhide to Shibata Katsuie and others. Because of this, the people of Higashi-Omi have revered Mitsuhide and continued to protect this shrine to this day, with a memorial service held on June 13th every year, the anniversary of his death. There are no nearby train stations or bus stops. Those without their own cars can only use a rental car or taxi from Fukui Station. Includes the date of Lord Mitsuhide's death.
