The Berp is a buzzing practice tool that allows you to attach your mouthpiece to the side of the mouthpipe and practice buzzing while holding your instrument. You can adjust the breath resistance (pressure) during buzzing by turning the dial up and down. Because you are holding the instrument, you can also practice fingering and sliding at the same time, making it effective for practice and warm-up. ■ Berp Buzzing Practice Tool This is a brass instrument practice tool designed to help you develop proper and effective buzzing by replicating the resistance of the instrument. You can practice with your preferred resistance by adjusting the number of holes in the pipe. ● How to Use the BERP 1. Attach it firmly to the open end of the mouthpiece receiver. *The clamp (fastener) is designed to be tightened firmly on the round part of the receiver, so you may need to push it in for some polygonal receivers or receivers with different diameters. Also, the direction of attachment (the position where the pipe comes) is up to your preference. 2. Before you start, attach the mouthpiece to the instrument and check the pitch. Then, move the mouthpiece to the BERP (see the image below) and practice raising and lowering the pitch and glissando techniques by buzzing. 3. Move the pistons or slide and buzz while paying attention to match the pitch as when the mouthpiece is attached to the instrument. 4. Attach the mouthpiece to the instrument and play the same phrase with the same force and consistent buzzing as in step 3.
