This is the picture book "Goodnight Moon" by Margaret Wise Brown. It's known as a "treasured memory" picture book that Empress Masako read when she was a child, and it became a topic of conversation in Japan around the time of Princess Aiko's birth. It seems it was also used to read to Princess Aiko. It was for reading to children *ˊᵕˋ* It was a favorite, and I read it over and over again.
