A charming, antique Kumamoto flower handbox, a large and small set. It is said to have originated in the late Heian period, when the Heike clan's refugees, living in the remote area of Hitoyoshi, created them while reminiscing about the glory of the capital. The small box can be stored inside the large box, and the lid can be closed. It is old, and there are color bleeds, scratches, stains, and cracks.
