Takeshi Isobe (1951-2019) was a Japanese tea researcher and essayist. Career: In 1979, he opened the tea specialty shop "Dimbula" and also imported tea from Sri Lanka and other countries. He established Tea Isobe Company Co., Ltd., developed hundreds of original menus that made the most of the characteristics of tea, and also conducted seminars and consulting for professionals. Achievements: He served as an advisor for Kirin Beverage's "Afternoon Tea" and was also the chief professor of the correspondence course "Tea Coordinator Course" at Nihon Soge Kyoiku. Media Appearances and Writings: He appeared on numerous television and radio programs, including NHK, and wrote many books on tea. His main works include "Tea Encyclopedia," "Tea Textbook" (Shinsei Publishing), and "A World History of a Cup of Tea" (Bungeishunju). Evaluation: Known as a leading authority on tea research, he was also called the "God of Tea" by many fans.
