This is a namasu dish I purchased at an antique market. The circular stamp-like patterns and realistic floral arabesques are impressive. In the center, there's a red and green kikko (tortoise shell) pattern. From there, floral arabesques extend to the edges on both sides. Judging by the shape of the flowers, it's a peony arabesque. The arabesques are painted in dark red and light red, indicating a lot of effort was put into it. There are two sizes of circular patterns. The smaller one has a phoenix above. Below, it looks like a flower, but since it has antennae, it might be a butterfly. The larger one is a continuous design of paulownia crests. The light indigo color gives it a good balance. It seems like it would be easy to use. The body features treasures. Likely a nyoi scepter and a jewel. There's a mark on the snake-eye foot. It says "Kakutomi." I was told it's from the late Edo period to the Meiji period. There's a chip and kiln marks on the foot. Since it's on the foot, it's not very noticeable.
