I have two of the same item, and this one has been kept unopened. I opened it to check because the purple color had changed in some areas. It's not sticky or anything, and I think it can be used normally. After purchase, I stored it in a ziplock bag, out of the reach of children, but please consider purchasing with the understanding that it has been stored at home and is about 4 or 5 years old. Also, I live with a cat. If you have allergies, are concerned about hair getting mixed in, or have any other concerns, please refrain from purchasing. Due to the thickness, I will only waterproof it and ship it in an envelope. Thank you.
