I remade a kimono into harem pants. Once you wear them, you'll be hooked (o^^o) The design of the commercially available ones was easy to wear, so I unpicked them to make a pattern and then made my own. The hem looks narrow, but it flares out when you wear them, making it easy to move your legs. I'm constantly making improvements to make them even more comfortable. They have side pockets. I didn't like how thick elastic waistbands can bunch up, so I used two rows of thin elastic.
